The gateProtect firewall has extended user authentication. This means that for any member of staff only the rights, services and rules specified for him will be applicable – regardless of which computer he logs onto. Thus every conceivable service can be specified and allocated to each member of staff individually and, if necessary, with time controls.
This is necessary for working with all programs and applications now and in the future. But what is much more important is that network security is increased many times over.
The majority of today’s firewall systems only support user-authentication by means of proxies whereby user rights are limited to a few services (three to eight). This significantly reduces the range of functions and the security of the network.
Tracing of breaches of security
Using extended user authentication it is possible to trace breaches of security to the user level without any breaks.
