Traffic shaping makes it possible to specify bandwidths for services, members of staff or groups of staff.
The traffic shaping provided by gateProtect, in contrast to that provided by many other providers, governs not only uploading but also all the downloading traffic.
Quality of Service within networks
The quality of service function in the gateProtect systems makes it possible to prioritise important applications which are vital to the company, such as ERP and CRM systems as well as VOIP services for telephone systems. This ensures that all areas of the business work smoothly. The quality of service can be adjusted very flexibly by setting so-called TOS flags, which identify the data packets to be given priority.
Prioritisation of data packets in VPN tunnels
Another special feature of the gateProtect solution is the capability to prioritise data packets such as VOIP packets also in VPN tunnels. This is important if, for example, staff are telephoning through an exchange from other sites, from home workstations or other mobile terminals or want/have to access centrally located ERP or CRM systems.
