 Human beings – the biggest security risk
The greatest security risk in today’s firewall systems is that ever more complex security functions have to be included to provide an effective defence against attacks. The consequence of this is that these systems become extremely difficult to operate and thus the risk of the operator making a mistake increases exponentially. gateProtect has taken account of this and has placed human beings, their wishes and requirements regarding functional operability centre stage again.
Ergonomically designed operation processes
A special feature of the user interface is that the operation processes are ergonomically designed. Different applications are always presented in a consistent way that provides precisely that information which the user requires for the current operation.
 
For instance, it can be seen at a glance how computers at various workstations are independent of, or belong to, a group with the same security settings. In this way the computer for a new member of the sales staff can be allocated to group of computers in the sales department by a simple drag and drop operation. That computer will then automatically be given the relevant security settings for that group. At the same time the administrator can navigate via context menus to settings in whatever depth of detail is required, for instance, to assign special rights at user level.
gateProtect complies with ISO standard 9241
Evidence for the quality of the gateProtect operation system is provided by the dialogue principles for ergonomic software design as formulated in the international ISO standard 9241, part 10.
