Ergonomically designed operation processes
The greatest security risk in today’s firewall systems is that ever more complex security functions have to be included to provide an effective defence against attacks. The consequence of this is that these systems become extremely difficult to operate and thus the risk of the operator making a mistake increases exponentially. gateProtect has taken account of this and has placed human beings, their wishes and requirements regarding functional operability centre stage again.
A special feature of the user interface is that the operation processes are ergonomically designed. Different applications are always presented in a consistent way that provides precisely that information which the user requires for the current operation.
VPN Client for IPSec and SSL
The VPN client for client-to-server connections, which we have developed ourselves, is not only quick and easy to use but also has the special feature that it supports x.509 certificates for both IPSec and SSL connections
In addition, with this client in SSL mode it is also possible to access all the usual applications and programs and use them. With many of today’s VPN-SSL solutions, which are based on a web browser, the programs which can be run on them are limited to a small number and this significantly reduces the range of functions.
The advantage of a VPN-SSL connection over a VPN-IPSec connection is that a VPN connection can be established in every IP sub-network via a single tcp/udp connection. This provides a significantly higher compatibility with NAT networks and conditionally governed firewalls.
gateProtect thus combine the advantages of the compatibility of an SSL connection with the high security standards of a certificate-based IPSec connection in one product.
