 The UTM firewall solution from gateProtect contains a website content filter. This automatically verifies surfing enquiries in accordance with permitted categories. The categories in the gateProtect filter groups can be individually composed from 60 filter categories. This guarantees secure, precise and yet manageable filtering.
For companies with a very high level of HTTP traffic the web filter database can also be downloaded onto the firewall. In this case no more hash is sent to the web filter server and the category is set directly (from the database) on the firewall instead
Optimum combination of URL and content filtering
The content filter is the ideal addition to the familiar gateProtect web blocking (URL filter). Settings are undertaken using a common dialogue.
All the categories are directly harmonised with each other so that configuration is quick and easy.
Therefore the black and white list also applies of course both to the URL and content filters.
This ensures that internet security is handled quickly and effectively.
Technology
In the area of content filtering gateProtect relies on the expertise and leading technology of IBM ISS Proventia Web Filter (formerly Cobion), to provide customers with the best possible security when using the internet.
The latest, most highly developed content analysis methods are used for indexing the content. Instead of simple search terms or manual categorisation, an automatic text and image analysis system is employed. Automatic web crawlers automatically add 120 million pages to it every month. The analysis method employs text classification, optical character recognition, logo and object recognition, face recognition, the recognition of pornography and nakedness, digital fingerprints and similarity comparisons.
A server farm with 1,000 CPUs carries out the processing. On this foundation the web filter can assess internet content quickly and accurately.
